Emergency Preparedness - What to do when the lights go out, terrorist attacks occur & govt's scare the people.. |
PREFACE I know it's pretty extreme to call something The Apocalypse Report, but frankly, it pretty accurately describes the way I believe things are going right now. Now, I don't mean to paint any extreme doomsday pictures in particular... I don't believe the world is suddenly going to come to an end. But you see, that's the whole problem. When something goes wrong, and it happens so gradually that its easy to adapt to, at least at first, you don't notice, and it just sort of sneaks up on you. That's what I believe has happened. And, I believe that we've reached a point where there may be no turning back. |

| If there's anything I want to say, more than anything else, is that it's time we started noticing what's going on, folks. In politics, in nature, in society.. and take a stand for what we know, deep in our hearts, is truly right. There's no other way to cause the world we keep saying we want. And we can create the future. We just need to be relentless. I'm not going to try to convince you that I've ever been some environmental activist. Like most people, I've trusted elected officials, scientists, and activists interested in such matters to manage it. The problem is, they haven't. That's why I've gone to the effort of making this report. That's why I've decided to speak up about the things I've learned and observed. And I have no doubt that many more people know much more than I do on each of these subjects. I want to put it all in a much simpler context. When you buy a car, if you maintain it, it will run well and be reliable. If you don't maintain it, you could find yourself stuck out in the middle of the desert on the hottest day of July when it finally, suddenly, ultimately breaks down and fails you. I also want to put it in a more complex context. And, since we Americans claim to base our beliefs and society on moral Christian disciplines, then I'm going to assume I'm free to place things in perspective regarding Biblical passages and interpretations. And I promise it will only be done in reference like historical and informational value. At the bottom of this page, I'll be listing certain Bible passages that you might find interesting to read on your own. But I do promise, no preaching.. alright? ok.. We're going to talk about a bunch of things. Social trends of course. But that sort of thing is left to diverse interpretation, so we'll shy away from that thil the end. What I believe provides more compelling examples of what I'm trying to point to are in nature itself. So we'll be talking about earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, typhoons, Asian Dirty Brown Haze, drought, disease - pestilence if you will, bacteria, pests harmful to crops, mountain meadows and the emergency that will occur as our water supplies begin to fail, as they began to do in the midwest this summer. It all sound like the makings of a pretty gloomy report, I admit, but it's all fact. Now, you could easily say that we have all those things, that's nothing new. Well, the fact is, some of that is true, but what's mostly true is that the ferocity of the storms, the frequency of volcanoes and devastating natural events is increasing... but we don't notice because it happens gradually. And, interestingly enough, even the Bible says that the proverbial "end of the earth" will come gradually over centuries. What I'll say, though, is that after the preponderance of my life in the mountains and in nature, this is the first time I've ever watched a forest die. I live on the edge of a rainforest in the area of Seattle, Washington. Never before have I seen branches of evergreen trees just die like I have this last summer. I'll have some pictures to show you what I mean. What's more, thsi year, unlike the previous 2 years I've lived here I've noticed a marked reduction of the number of birds in the area. There are fewer squirrels. There are no coyotes at all. They used to be a problem here. I used to be wakened by the noise of woodpecker who nested in the wood just behind my bedroom.. haven't seem them at all this year.. I can't help but notice what's happening. As I always say, don't take my word for anything. Check things out for yourself. I'll provide as much reference material as I can, and then you can make up your mind for yourself. That's something else I believe in. Because I believe that when people are informed, they make the right decisions. I hope you will find this all to be useful information.
